thanks for all the conditional love

LaMontagne Gallery is pleased to present thanks for all the conditional love, a solo exhibition of works by Esteban del Valle.

In thanks for all the conditional love, del Valle reflects on exhaustion, alienation, and care within the contradictions of late-stage capitalism. Through an autobiographical lens, del Valle creates satirical paintings and drawings that resist detachment. Imbued with care, he renders the absurdity and beauty of contemporary survival within systems that both demand and deplete us.

His work reflects how contemporary relationships - with one another and with the natural world - have produced a paradox in which abundance erodes essential capacities for survival and self-understanding.  The works frame this disorientation not merely as a personal challenge but as a broader cultural symptom of detachment.

What does survival look like in a culture estranged from the very relationship that sustain life? What remains but hollow desire and the urge to place it somewhere - to name love and build it a home - only to realize we may no longer recognize what either one looks like.
